Entre architecture iconique et architecture fonctionnelle, le campus diplomatique de la France à Pékin joue le rôle de vitrine tout à la fois diplomatique et bioclimatique. Le bâtiment a fait l’objet d’une réflexion HQE d’autant plus importante que le climat de la capitale chinoise est continental l’hiver et quasi tropical l’été. Le drapé intérieur de la tour des bureaux est tout à la fois un bouclier de protection contre les vents froids de l’hiver et ceux chargés de sable l’été. Afin de maîtriser les échanges thermiques et les problématiques environnementales, la carapace est dotée de vantelles hautes et basses qui permettent de créer un effet de venturi. En ouvrant les vantelles l’été ou en les fermant l’hiver, on obtient ainsi un tampon thermique.

A mix between iconic architecture and functional architecture, the French diplomatic campus in Beijing has the role as a showcase that is both diplomatic and bioclimatic. The building was conceived according to green building standards, which was important as the climate in the Chinese capital is continental in the winter and almost tropical in the summer. The interior drape-like shell of the tower of offices is a shield of protection against both the cold winds in winter and the sand-filled winds in summer. In order to manage the thermal exchanges and the environmental concerns, the shell was equipped with high and low ventilation gates that make it possible to let air in with a “venturi” effect. By opening the gates in the summer or closing them in the winter it is possible to create a thermal barrier.
