L’évolution de la règlementation sur les ERP (Etablissements Recevant du Public) et la remise aux normes en matière de sécurité incendie sont à l’origine de cette réhabilitation, avec les contraintes d’un chantier en site occupé. La nécessaire augmentation du nombre d’unités de passage a conduit à créer un escalier extérieur en Chambord. La localisation de cet élément de programme lui donne une dimension de signal. Il est recouvert d’un écran de verre sérigraphié et répond au jeu métaphorique auquel les passants sont invités. Une réponse technique et poétique. L’habillage signe le renouveau de l’équipement mais devient également une vitrine lumineuse quand, le soir venu, l’éclairage révèle doublement son existence qu’elle affiche avec brio. L’escalier devient une articulation urbaine tout en répondant à une nécessité technique.

The evolution of the regulations regarding public buildings and new fire safety norms are the origin of this renovation. The site had the constraint of being an occupied site at the time of renovation. There was a need to increase the number of exits in the existing building which led to creating a Chambord exterior staircase. The staircase has a beacon-like appearance. It is covered with a silkscreen printed glass screen and it responds to a metaphor that the passersby are invited to experience. This is a technical and poetic response to the architectural and safety constraints. The presentation signals the renewal of the equipment but it also becomes a luminous glass showcase when it is elaborately lit up at night. The staircase becomes an urban articulation while at the same time responding to a technical need.
