RENOVATION, MAISON D’ARRET/ PRISON, FLEURY-MEROGIS (FRANCE)
Opération de rénovation complexe, en site occupé, pour la plus grande maison d’arrêt d’Europe. Trois mille six cents cellules donnaient à cet établissement pénitentiaire une force architecturale monumentale qui frisait l’insupportable. Le vaste programme visait différents objectifs : remettre à niveau la technique, améliorer et renforcer la modernité des outils de communication, rénover les cellules mais aussi améliorer le cadre de travail des 1500 personnels pénitentiaires. Chaque tripale a été dotée de couleurs propres apportant à l’ensemble une diversité d’ambiance et rompant la monotonie initiale des façades. L’utilisation d’un dispositif technique de traitement d’air avec le double flux a été l’occasion de transformer la perception des façades qui varient dorénavant suivant chaque aile et chaque cour.

This is the largest prison in Europe and was a complex renovation as the site was occupied during the renovation. Three thousand six hundred cells gave this penitentiary a monumental architectural force that was near impossible. This vast project had a few objectives: to renovate the technical and technological aspects of the building, to update the communication tools in the structure, to renovate the cells and also to improve the working environment of the 1500 penitentiary employees. Each wing is designed with a individual colors bringing a diversity to the ambiance which breaks up the initial monotony of the facades. The installation of a balanced ventilation system provided the opportunity to transform the appearance of the facades so that they are different in each wing and each courtyard.
