Après cinquante ans, la façade en béton se dégradait et les aciers apparaissaient, ce qui rendait tout ravalement direct très difficile. Le sauvetage du bâti existant a donc été entrepris. Une façade « emballage », un grand drapé d’aluminium blanc, donne désormais un sens « aquatique » au siège social de la Société de Gestion des Eaux de Paris. Un jardin intérieur, lui-même en forme de vague, a complété la symbolique de l’ensemble. Architecture et nature ont ainsi dialogué pour une réhabilitation avec en tête le balancement de la houle.

Fifty years after the initial building, the concrete façade of this building was degraded to the extent that the steel framework was visible in some places, which made this renovation project very difficult. The challenge was undertaken to save the existing structure. A « wrapping » concept was applied to the façade; a large white aluminum drape gives an aquatic feeling to this building that houses the head office of the company that manages Paris’ water supply. An interior garden in the shape of a wave further enhanced the symbolism. Architecture and nature participate in a dialogue for a renovation that evokes an ambiance of the swaying of ocean waves.
